Thai- Style Burgers Made with Prawns
What makes a burger ‘Thai-Style’? Well it’s the use of herbs and spices that are the mainstay of Thai food! These Thai Style burgers are made with prawns, but you could use shrimps too. Shrimp and Prawn Burgers are a great alternative to Meat Burgers. Yay for seafood!

For the burger patty
  • 300gms (roughly) (deveined & de-shelled prawns)
  • ½cup coriander leaves(stem removed & chopped)
  • 2 spring onionsstalks , chopped
  • 4 to 5 Basillarge leaves, chopped
  • ½Tbs gingergrated
  • 2cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemonZest of medium-sized
  • ½tsp chilliflakes
  • Pinch salt
  • 3Tbs breadcrumbs
  • ½Tbs mayonnaise
  • 1/8tsp honey
  • Oil for frying
Assembling the burger
  • 3Tbs mayonnaise
  • Sriracha Tabasco hot sauceFew splashes of , or any other
  • Handful arugula rocketor leaves
  • 3 burger buns
  1. Attach the chopping blade to the bowl of the food processor. Place the prawns, coriander, spring onions,basil, ginger, garlic, lemon zest, chilli flakes & salt in the food processor and ‘pulse’ four times. Each pulse should be for about 2 seconds each.
  2. Transfer the entire mixture into a medium-sized bowl and add the breadcrumbs, mayonnaise & honey & use the spatula to fold the ingredients together until just combined. Don’t overmix. Divide the mixture into 3 and shape each part into a patty. Transfer the patties to a plate and refrigerate for 30 mins.
  3. After 30 mins, heat some oil in a large skillet & heat on medium heat. Place each patty in the pan & fry for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until it turns golden brown. Place on paper towel to drain excess oil.
  4. Whisk together the mayonnaise for the dressing & hot sauce of choice. Taste to adjust flavours. Slice the burger buns in half and spread this dressing on each half. Place the arugula on the bottom half of bun on which the dressing has been spread. Top it with prawn patty and place the top half of burger bun on it. Serve immediately.
