I’d once heard Cindy Crawford talk about how after the indulgence of Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties, she likes Valentine’s Day to be a bit low key – you know, special (like a bunch of roses), but not over the top. I’m not one for heart-shaped cards either, but over the last couple of years I’ve gravitated towards DIY sort of Valentine’s gifts over getting something off the racks. Not that there’s anything wrong with buying a gift, because really, confessions of this shopaholic could inspire an Indian counterpart of the series! So this year, I’ve got some Valentine’s Day DIY inspiration for you with this recipe for Chocolate Orange Mousse. If you’ve stayed away from making desserts, this one will gently ease you into making them at home.
I say that it’s the easiest Chocolate Orange Mousse you’ll ever make, and that’s my promise to you. We just need some oranges, bananas and avocado to get us started. You’ve got my drift, haven’t you? It’s like the time I made Chocolate Pudding without milk, cream or eggs! That’s right, it’s time pull out the food processor and just blend everything together and call it dessert.
Scoop out the flesh of half an avocado, chop up two very ripe bananas and toss it in the food processor with cocoa powder, agave nectar (or honey / maple syrup) orange juice, orange zest and some cinnamon. BLEND.
This isn’t just a beautiful dessert to share with the ones you love, but it’s also a gentle kiss of all things healthy and yet indulgent for you! That’s the spirit of Valentine’s Day captured in a dessert… just for you!
